Labour ComplianceThe Government of West Bengal on July 13, 2026, issued the Draft West Bengal Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026.

The following has been stated: -

•The Draft West Bengal Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026 have been issued to implement the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 in the State. 

•The draft aims to streamline and modernize workplace safety, health, and welfare requirements for establishments covered under the Code. 

•It introduces provisions for digital registration, maintenance of records, and compliance, while prescribing employers' responsibilities regarding safe working conditions, welfare facilities, accident reporting, and working hours. 

•The Rules also strengthen worker protections through measures relating to health, safety, overtime, and welfare amenities. 

•The State Government has invited objections and suggestions from stakeholders before finalizing the Rules.

Objections or suggestions may be given within 45 days from July 13, 2026.
